Hey Jon,

Me again, I was out on the Island today with my bike and hit a majority of it with no success. I felt like I was looking for a needle in a hay stack! I've never been out this time of year and couldn't help but think that the stuff I was looking for (summer type visual Qs that normally produce fish) was all wrong. What should I be looking for? I see you guys in the picture here are fishing man made rock structures, points and bays. Should I have been looking for deeper waters, structures or sandy bottoms? I started out working Snake Island and worked my way up and down the inside shore, should I have been on the north shore working the wave breakers? Help a brother out!

Hey Al, This time of year things are pretty tough. Like you said, all of the Usual Qs are different this time of year. I'd stick to the island interior rather then the outside. A good set of polarized lenses are key when fishing the islands. Spring pike will be hanging out 60+ feet from shore in the inner channels. It may not be visible yet, but there is a weedline out there, and they sit there to ambush prey. A carefully placed lure over the weed edge is key.

Tommy Thompson Park

Also referred to as Leslie Street Spit this is one of the popular urban fishing destinations in Toronto. This man-made headland is about 5KM long and houses a number of inner and outer bays and long points. Some of the terrain is pretty rough, made from rubble and earth generated from various construction and demolition projects through out the city.
